SOLD - Art and Music in the Gardens 2014
I don't know why they call them river otters, unless it's just to differentiate them from sea otters. These otters can be found in both fresh and sea water and they can be seen fishing here regularly. They are quite light (5 - 30 pounds) when compared to sea otters (30 - 100 pounds) and have a very long tail (12-14 inches). They are a lot cuter when they're dry than when they're wet - but then, aren't we all.
Appearance - FCA Annual International Representational Show (airs) - 2011.
Ironic that I should focus on making the background of this picture more abstract and then it would be accepted to a Representational show.
This is the first illustration I have done where I chose to make the background more abstract than realistic. It took the same amount of time to complete the drawing because of the large number of dark areas (high density of dots) in the water.
